As the saying goes: “Let There Be Light!

Thursday October 27

T01 • Proper Lighting Fixture Maintenance
11:00am-12:30pm, Room S312

Lighting fixtures require a set maintenance schedule that will optimize their performance while minimizing the down time for repairs. This session will point out some of the most important maintenance needs that are often
overlooked.

Moderator: Carl Wake, GLP

T02 • Building A Lighting System 101
1:30pm-3:00pm, Room S312

What types of fixtures work for different stage looks? What does each fixture do? How much power do they use? How do you hook them up? This seminar will bring you right back to basics. Perfect for beginner lighting designers as well as anyone who wants to get a refresher course on the fundamentals.

Moderator: Tony Hansen, Techni-Lux

T03 • Using Software Tools to Streamline Your Technical Production Process
3:30pm-5:00pm, Room S312

There are many steps between the inspired production concept and the first performance. The final steps take place in the performance venue, usually under tight time constraints, but the most important steps may be the earlier ones that prepare you to make the best use of that time. All technical aspects of a production can benefit
from careful pre-planning, communication, and advance problem solving. A variety of tools and techniques that have been developed on big-budget shows can also help productions with much more modest resources. This seminar will look at some examples, and discuss specific steps you can take to make your next production much less stressful.

Moderator: Eric Cornwell, West Side Systems

T04 • Power Considerations for Portable and Installed Lighting Systems
11:00am-12:30pm, Room S312

.75 Renewal Credits
It’s confusing enough to determine the right products required to pull off your stage lighting looks. Power considerations for these products are often overlooked, yet they can be they most essential part of your system planning. With all of the options out there (LED, plasma, halogen, etc.), where do you even begin to know how to plan out your requirements? This seminar will get you started.

T05 • Building A Lighting System 201
1:30pm-3:00pm, Room S312

This seminar will pick up where Building A Lighting System 101 left off, and talk about LED fixtures, moving lights and computerized control systems, and how it all gets interconnected. Beginner LDs and veterans alike are welcome to bring their questions and hone their knowledge.

Moderator: Tony Hansen, Techni-Lux

T06 • Programming on the Fly
3:30pm-5:00pm, Room S312

Many LDs are expected to think on their feet, even if all the aspects of a show have been planned out. In a worship scenario, sometimes the LD has to react and move with the worship team, even if that means unexpected changes and programs. This seminar will teach you how to roll with those changes so that the team doesn’t miss a beat.

Moderator: Rob Holland, AVI Staging Technology

Saturday, October 29

T07 • Green System Design
11:00am-12:30am, Room S312

It’s important to think Green right from the inception of a system design. It is far more cost effective to handle these considerations before an installation, rather than afterwards. This seminar will take you through the ways you can save money and energy with the right amount of foresight and planning in your system design.

Moderator: Stephen Ellison, TFWM lighting editorial advisor

T08 • Knowing Your Lighting Protocols
1:30pm-3:00pm, Room S312
.75 Renewal Credits

There is a lot going on behind the scenes of the lighting industry. Many changes and developments are taking place every day that are changing the future of lighting as we know it. This seminar will bring you up to speed with standards, certification and regulations pertaining to the most pertinent protocols, so that you can be better prepared for what’s to come.

Moderator: Bob Goddard, Goddard Design

T09 • What’s This About IP Addresses? Media Servers from a Lighting Background
3:30pm-5:00pm, Room S312
.75 Renewal Credits

The world of lighting is changing rapidly. Today’s LDs and programmers need to be able to understand many levels of technical complexity – fixtures, protocols, standards, etc. Yet another emerging aspect is the need to work with media servers and video elements to augment lighting looks. Media Servers present their own set of technical challenges and vocabulary. This seminar will break down the language, characteristics and the overall learning curve so that as an LD you are prepared to “speak the language” of media servers and consoles to quickly get back to what you love the most: making wonderful art with light.

Moderator: Tim Nauss, Product Specialist, TMB
